What we do
MyQ responds to youth needs using a multi-pronged approach:
Policy and advocacy
MyQ is the state policy and advocacy body for multicultural young people and the only Queensland representative voice on multicultural youth issues. We provide policy and program advice to key policy and decision-makers to improve conditions and outcomes for multicultural young people.
Sector capacity building
We provide training, advice, information, resources and other support to build and strengthen system, sector and organisational capacity and cultural responsiveness.
Strengthening Youth capacity
We provide training on Youth Leadership to young people to enable them to learn new skills in leadership, project management, public speaking, storytelling, youth facilitation and teamwork.
Strategic goals and priorities
Based on our consultations with young people and key stakeholders from the multicultural, not-for-profit and government sectors, we have identified four strategic goals and priorities to guide our work over the next five years.
Goal 1: Lead and support positive youth development by creating tangible opportunities for social, cultural, economic and political participation.
Goal 2: Contribute to an evidence-base for multicultural youth policy and service delivery
Goal 3: Establish strategic partnerships and collaborations to support the needs and interests of young people.
Goal 4: Facilitate and strengthen youth and community-led efforts to support young people to shape their own futures and lead from a youth angle.
